Mir Collective designed the transformation of the sixth floor of the Lois & Richard Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art adding new galleries, artmaking studios, and gathering spaces. The first phase of the 9000-sf renovation opened the top level of the Cincinnati Contemporary Art Center (CAC) to city views, gallery connections, and spaces for small and large group interactions. The design promotes indoor environmental health and sustainability in both architectural and art-making material choices. Phase II will include new outdoor galleries enabling ecologically-focused, living art while offering an exemplary model of art-making experiences. The design celebrates Zaha Hadid’s iconic 2001 building by enhancing physical and programmatic connections between the 6th floor, the city, and its communities while leaving the exterior views of the building unchanged.
